Incident Response

Incident Response is the systematic approach to detecting, analyzing, and recovering from security incidents. It's about containing threats quickly and minimizing damage.

Operations

Learning path

Master security fundamentals, learn SIEM tools, practice incident scenarios.

Career relevance

Critical for incident responders, SOC analysts, and security engineers.

Practice projects

  • Write a playbook for one alert

Pick a common alert, such as a suspicious sign-in, and write the triage, containment and recovery steps, using NIST SP 800-61 Rev. 3 as a reference.

What you'll have: A one-page playbook a teammate could follow during an incident.

  • Run a tabletop exercise

Walk a study group through a ransomware scenario: who decides, who gets told and what evidence you keep. Note every point where the plan was unclear.

What you'll have: An after-action report listing what to fix in the plan.
