A beta exam is a live program with its own eligibility and result rules, rather than a universal way to buy a cheap certification. As of October 2026, ISACA is accepting applications for its AAIG beta, while Cloudflare advertises a Zero Trust Associate beta at Connect. Check whether the opportunity fits your experience and whether you can actually obtain a place before planning around it.
AAIG is aimed at experienced governance professionals
ISACA's current AAIG page accepts active CGEIT holders or applicants with six years of enterprise governance experience, including at least one in AI. It lists a $399 beta exam package including the review eBook, with an optional question database at $199. The beta is application-based and space is limited.
That is a specific audience. An analyst looking for a first security certification should not choose it solely because beta pricing appears attractive. Read the governance scope and eligibility conditions, then establish whether your work provides the background the assessment expects.
For an eligible applicant, ask how the program's dates, preparation and result process fit your commitments. Keep the acceptance and purchase terms. A public application page is not confirmation that a particular candidate has been admitted.
Cloudflare's beta has an event access constraint
Cloudflare's University offering at Connect includes a Zero Trust Associate beta, with results expected after review rather than immediately. Its University FAQ estimates six to eight weeks for beta results. The package also includes an Application Security Associate exam, which has a different results process.
The main Connect registration page currently marks University sold out. That matters before comparing the exam's subjects or price with another qualification. Contact the event team about any future availability rather than buying travel on the assumption that a beta seat can be added later.
We would also avoid promising a certification deadline to an employer while waiting for beta review. Record the expected result process and identify any project or employment dependency separately. An exam taken on a given date is not necessarily an award issued on that date.
AWS shows why general beta assumptions are unreliable
AWS's current before-testing policy says beta exams are limited-duration offerings with more questions and discounted pricing. It also states that a beta version can be taken only once; a candidate wanting another attempt must wait for general availability. Its current policy says results are available within five business days.
Those are AWS's rules, not a standard for every vendor. Cloudflare's delayed review illustrates the difference. Read the actual beta announcement and issuer policy together, especially where an older article describes a different result timeline or retake arrangement.
Choose the opportunity for its assessment scope
We would compare the public objectives with a responsibility you already perform or are preparing to take on. Ask what you need to learn, which materials are actually available and whether the beta's conditions leave enough preparation time. A lower fee should not decide the sequence of an otherwise unsuitable certification path.
Before applying, record eligibility, access, purchase inclusions, completion deadline and result expectations. Check what happens if the program changes or you cannot attend. Leave a claim out of the plan when the announcement does not establish it.
This month, use the named issuer pages to identify an actual offer rather than a recycled list of supposed beta exams. A worthwhile beta opportunity has a scope you need and terms you can meet, with uncertainty visible to anyone relying on the outcome.
